I actually started in art and a high school art teacher discouraged me from being an artist. I thought it was the end of the world but moved on. One day I came across a book of black and white photographs by Ansel Adams. I was mesmerized by his work. Like him I was fascinated with nature. His black and white landscapes were magnificent. His work started my study of photography.
Brassai is another that piqued my interest in photography. He was known for his night photography in France. Even though his photographic equipment lacked the modern technology of today his night shots were remarkable.
Through the years I tried to improve my photography and it seemed I was getting nowhere. Then I found Bruce Barnbaums book "The Art of Photography". It was a real eye opener.
I presently reside in the small town of Belgrade, MO. The area is filled with history. Presently I am putting together a coffee table book filled with pictures of of rural Missouri. I call it "Focus on Missouri."
